Apr 29,  · Any Albert King (or Stevie Ray Vaughan) fan should get this album. It's much better than "Live Wire Blues Power" or any of his other live albums. Albert has a kickin' band, complete with a small brass section, & with Donald Kinsey (later with The Wailers) on second guitar/5(35).

Live Wire–Blues Power was recorded June , , and became such an iconic album that Stax later released two more live albums from those two nights at the Fillmore. King worked his magic on and on, squeezing the nuances out.

Live Wire/Blues Power is one of Albert King's definitive albums. Recorded live at the Fillmore Auditorium in , the guitarist is at the top of his form throughout the record -- his solos are intense and piercing. The band is fine, but ultimately it's King's show -- he makes Herbie Hancock's "Watermelon Man" dirty and funky and wrings out all the emotion from "Blues at Sunrise."9/
